Method
- Pour the milk into a mixing bowl and whisk in the sugar and vanilla extract until fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the milk mixture into a shallow dish or baking pan, spreading it out evenly.
- Place the dish in the freezer and let it freeze for about 30 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still slightly soft.
- Remove the dish from the freezer and scrape the frozen parts with a fork, breaking into smaller ice crystals and mixing everything back together for a consistent slush.
- Repeat the freezing and scraping process every 15 minutes until the mixture is thick, icy, and scoopable, about 15-20 minutes total.
- Once the mixture reaches a thick, icy consistency resembling a slushie, transfer it to a blender and pulse a few times to create a smooth, evenly crushed texture.
- Pour the blended slushie into tall glasses, garnish if desired, and serve immediately with a straw or spoon for a refreshing treat.
Notes
For an extra flavor boost, add a few drops of almond extract or a sprinkle of cocoa powder before freezing.
